The Osher School of Music Jazz Ensemble, a 16-piece big band under the direction of Aaron Henry, will perform their spring concert at Corthell Concert Hall in Gorham on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will feature a theme of "Standards for Big Band," with works by Horace Silver, Sammy Nestico, Bill Holman, Les Hooper, Greg Hopkins, and Dave Holland, and arrangements performed by some of the greatest big bands in jazz history, including the Buddy Rich Orchestra, The Bob Florence Big Band, and Stan Kenton's Orchestra. Featuring ample improvisational space for the talented members of this ensemble, the works in this concert promise to excite and leave you in awe of the music and musicians alike!

Aaron began teaching at USM as the Artist Faculty in Jazz Saxophone in September of '23. He is actively involved as a music educator in the Greater Portland area as Director of Bands at Yarmouth High School, as the jazz saxophone instructor at New England Music Camps' Jazz Intensive, and as a performer in the Portland/Boston/New England area. Recent projects include Grammy Nominated Composer Mehmet Ali Sanlikol's What'snext? Jazz Orchestra, where he was a featured soloist on their recent album Turkish Hipster, featuring jazz icons Miguel Zenon, Antonio Sanchez, and Anat Cohen. Their previous release, The Rise-Up, featured master saxophonist Dave Liebman. After his BM in Performance as a Charlie Parker Award recipient of The Berklee College of Music, he received his Masters in Studio Composition from State University of New York, Purchase College.
