On the front lawn at Corthell Hall on the University of Southern Maine campus, families of summer campers enjoyed an outdoor band concert performance by the Southern Maine Music Academy (SoMMA) campers, concert band directed by Prof. Will Kinne and jazz band directed by Matthew Lagarde.
The in-person concert time was held on Saturday, July 15 at 2 p.m. The virtual performance will be available for two days (this is being extended to Saturday, July 22).
This exciting, yet demanding, eight-day program gives high school musicians the opportunity for musical development through group and individualized instruction provided by qualified staff and professional musicians. All academy members participate in concert band, instrument sectionals, and small ensembles.
The concert is free, but you may choose your own price if you'd like to make a donation (much appreciated).
Today, we faced uncertain weather, but for the concert, the sun was shining, and the band was HOT, in more ways than one. Get a ticket, and have a listen.
